The Isiah Davenport House is perhaps best known as the catalyst for the historic preservation movement in Savannah. It is owned and managed by Historic Savannah Foundation, which provides leadership for the ongoing preservation efforts in Savannah. Isiah Davenport represented Savannah's middle class. The building is finely appointed--Davenport himself was a master craftsman.
The interior follows Georgian rules of division between private and public domestic spaces. The exterior with its fanlight and pilasters decorating the front door and third floor dormers lead us to classify it as Federal.
