Telfair Square

at Barnard and West President Streets

Originally named St. James Square, this site was renamed in honor of Edward Telfair, governor of GA 1786, 1789, and 1792, and his daughters Margaret and Mary. Mary and Margaret helped build a home for the Ga. Historical Society and left their home on Telfair Square to the city to become the city’s first museum. Telfair is the only square which honors women.
