Whitfield Square

at Habersham and East Wayne Streets

This square is the only place in Savannah named in memory of George Whitfield, 18th Century evangelists, successor to John Wesley as Christ Church curate, and founder of Bethesda Orphanage.  Whitfield Square, with its Victorian Gazebo, is witness to many Savannah weddings, and often to residents of the Rose of Sharon apartments, which border the Square, seeking a summer breeze. As with all of Savannah's Squares, Whitfield Square is decorated for Christmas by its neighborhood in cooperation with the Park and Tree Department.
