COMES TO THE SOUTH
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA
History 5570, Topics in the American South, taught by Dr. June Hopkins at Armstrong Atlantic State University, focuses on the Great Depression and FDR's New Deal policies aimed at the alleviation of economic distress in the 1930s. Emphasis will be placed on the Civilian Conservation Corps camp at Fort Pulaski near Savannah, Georgia and the work done there to restore the fort. This course was created in conjunction with Dr. Barbara Fertig's course on oral history, history 5770, which will involve students conducting interviews with the alums of CCC460.
