WORK PROJECTS AT FORT PULASKI

 

The following is a partial list of some of the projects completed by enrollees at Camp 460, Fort Pulaski.

 

Built the bridge from the mainland to Cockspur Island (completed in 1938)

Before the bridge was constructed, the enrollees used a boat to transport items to and from the island. They loaded supplies on wheelbarrows at the dock and hauled them up to the fort. 

Collected bottles and chinaware from around the island

Constructed walkways around the fort

Developed a research center and library of books, documents, collections, and photgraphs

Dredged and restored the moat surrounding the fort

Constructed the parking area
