WORK PROJECTS AT FORT PULASKI
The following is a partial list of some of the projects completed by enrollees at Camp 460, Fort Pulaski.
| Built the bridge from the
mainland to Cockspur Island (completed in 1938) |
Before the bridge was constructed, the enrollees used a boat to transport items to and from the island. They loaded supplies on wheelbarrows at the dock and hauled them up to the fort. |
Collected bottles and chinaware from around the island
| Constructed walkways around the fort |
Developed a research center and library of books, documents, collections, and photgraphs
| Dredged and restored the moat surrounding the fort |
Constructed the parking area
| Restored the fort |
Landscaped the area (developed a permenant plan for landscaping the area)
